Now we are happy to announce the installation of the first Thulium 120 watt Laser machine in Maharashtra and only the second in India. Thulium Laser is a useful technology for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, bladder cancer, stricture urethra, etc. It resents the prostatic tissue by enucleation as well as evaporation.
Enucleation can resent prostate in to with very minimal bleeding. As normal saline is used for irrigation, there is no risk of the life threatening TURP syndrome. As THULIUM laser can also be used for evaporation of prostate, it is a very useful tool for patients of BPH who are on ecosprin & copidogrel, as there is no risk of bleeding by evaporation technique. Also, there is no sloughing of necrotic tissue as seen in the green light laser.

Holmium Laser for Stone Treatment

Pramodini Urology Foundation also harbors 30 watt holmium laser for the treatment of urinary stones. Holmium laser evaporates the stone without any mechanical power, thereby reducing the chances of migration of stones during Ureteroscopies and also reduces the requirement of a stent, thereby avoiding the long term postoperative discomfort and pain of the stent and also avoiding another procedure of stent removing.

We are happy to announce Pune’s first 7.5 French Flexible Ureteroscope by CARL STORZ-the FLEX EX II. Its miniature size increases the success rate of RIRS (Retrograde Internal Surgery) by easy access of the pelvicalyceal system through the urethra. It can reach almost every calyx of the kidney and the laser can evaporate the stone. To assist all these hi-tech equipment’s, we have all accessories like Richard Wolf Morsillator (first in Maharashtra) to remove enucleated prostatic tissue within a few seconds. We also have the latest Richard Wolf Resectoscopes, Nephroscope, etc.

Dornier Sigma Lithotripsy machine

The sopro three chip camera with 300 watt xenon light source and medical monitor helps the surgeon with excellent vision. Laparoscopic urological and gynaecological surgeries are routinely performed at Pramodini Urology Foundation.
Pramodini Urology Foundation has done more than 4000 Lithotripsies until now on its Dornier Sigma Lithotripsy machine which is one of the best machines in the world. Dual localisation on 9-inch high-resolution C arm and BK (Denmark) Falcon USG machine give very high success rates in the range of 90%.
We have done all types of stones from 5-6 mm to 5 cm and age varying from 7 months to 94 years. We have treated patients of upper, middle as well as lower ureteric stones by ESWL.
